Arrival at Tirana International Airport. Meet and greet by our local English speaking guide. Accommodation at your hotel. Afternoon and evening at your leisure in Tirana. Tirana offers e vibrant nightlife. You can enjoy a local or Italian dinner meal at one of numerous Tirana restaurants and a drink at a local bar afterwards.
Transfer by private minibus to Cave of Pellumbasi. About 30 km drive from Tirana. Our guide will accompany us to the trails. Back by minibus to Tirana. Dinner and overnight in Tirana. Optional, any art evening event in Tirana.
Leave Tirana early in the morning. Stop for few hours in Kruja. Visit famous Kruja’s “old bazaar”. Visit also the Skanderbeg museum, Albanian’s National Hero. Continue to Lezha, where you can enjoy an optional fish or seafood lunch. Visit Skanderbeg’s Mausoleum. Our journey continues to Shkodra. Optional hike to the famous Rozafa castle in Shkodra (you can also use the minibus to go there). Learn at the castle about an old Albanian legend of motherhood and sacrifice. Dinner and overnight in Shkodra. The total drive would be aprox 130 km.
Leave early in the morning from Shkodra to Razem. 42 km drive. We stop at Natural Razma Resort. Enjoy a coffee or a drink there and then we start our hiking day. Dinner and overnight at Natural Razma resort. We can enjoy a swim in the indoor pool or relax in the sauna
We drive 57 km from Razma to Theth. Enjoy breathtaking mounting views along the way. Continue our hiking adventure to Theth’s green forest hiking trails. Dinner and overnight in the guest houses in Theth.
We use the day to drive from Theth to Prizren (Kosovo). We drive aprox 260 km and cross the border between Albania and Kosovo. Valid Canadian passport is sufficient. We spend the evening at our leisure in Prizren. We use the remaining of the day to stroll along the streets of the city, or hike in the trails of Mount Sharr. The Albanian minibus and the English-speaking Albanian guide will be with us.
Visit the historic town of Prizren and then drive for about 100 km to Matka In Macedonia, famous for its canyons. We cross the border between Kosovo and Macedonia. Valid Canadian passport is sufficient. We spend the day hiking along the canyons of Matka. We continue for another 150 km drive for an overnight in the town of Ohrid.
After a short visit to Ohrid, we drive along the lake to St. Naum. We stop there to visit and the monastery established in the year 905 and where the St Naum is buried. We continue our drive and re-enter Albania. Valid Canadian passport is sufficient. Short visit to the village of Tushemisht and Drilon Natural Park. Optional fish lunch in Drilon. Our drive continues for an overnight to the city of Korca. We spend our evening among the friendly atmosphere of this city. Our total drive today is about 90 km
Early breakfast and drive for about 20 km to Voskopoja, a mountain village, famous for its numerous very old Orthodox churches. We use our morning to hike along the trails. After lunch, we drive along the beautiful canyons to Permet. Stop along the way for photo-shooting of the epic scenery and for short hikes. Overnight in Permet.
Early morning breakfast and drive for aprx 100 km from Permet to Gjirokastra. The museum city of Gjirokastra is known as “the city of stone” due to its predominance in almost the entire architecture of the city. It is an UNECSO World Heritage site since 2005. Gjirokastra has the largest castle in the country which houses the largest Museum of Arms in the country. We overnight in Gjirokastra.
We drive for aprox 60 km to Saranda. Stop for a coffee and photo-shooting break at Lekuresi Castle. From the castle we enjoy a breathtaking view of Ionian coastal city of Saranda. Optional hike on the area trails. We continue our drive for aprox 25 km to Butrint National Park. The park has great scientific, touristic and archeological values, as well as high levels of biodiversity. The park is an UNESCO site since 1992. Optional Lunch. We return for overnight to the city of Saranda.
Take the ferry from Saranda to Corfu (Greece). Valid Canadian passport is sufficient. We continue to Corfu and use the day at our leisure. Possibility to hike on the beautiful Ionian costal trails.
Take the ferry back to Saranda. Take the minibus and drive to the city of Berat. One of the oldest cities in Albania, Berat is known as the “City of 1000 Windows” and become UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008. We will visit a well – preserved and inhabited castle and a museum of icons painted by Onufri, the famous 16th century Albanian icon painter. We use the afternoon to climb the nearby Mount Tomorr. Not to miss here the traditional home cooked dishes. Locals are very friendly. We overnight in Berat and enjoy the view of lit “1000 windows”.
